From Dresden to international radiopharmacy

Home 5 News 5 From Dresden to international radiopharmacy

Isotope Technologies Dresden GmbH (ITD), a subsidiary of Eckert & Ziegler AG, has manufactured a new hot cell line for radiopharmaceuticals for a US customer. The system will be used in the USA in future to produce therapeutic radioisotopes and thus contribute to healthcare with modern cancer therapies.

The system concept comprises several highly shielded hot cell modules, automated manipulators and complex mechanical, automation, electrical and software systems. The modules are individually designed for the respective production processes and safety requirements.

Despite established technical principles, there are numerous interdependencies between design, automation, safety technology, procurement and installation in special systems of this type. Design changes or adaptations often have a direct impact on several project areas.

The specialist article in CHEManager describes the technical and organizational challenges that characterize such projects – and how structured Project Controlling helps to master the complexity across all project phases.
