The renovation and extension of the St. Paul children’s home in Erdweg (Dachau district) has been completed. We provided comprehensive project management support for the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising – a project of great importance for the social infrastructure of the community.

As part of the measures, the listed existing building was renovated. An extension that was not worth preserving was demolished and replaced with a sustainable new building. The result is an integrative daycare center with space for a crèche group, two kindergarten groups and an integration group. The investment volume amounted to 8.95 million euros.

The new building was constructed using sustainable timber construction methods. A heat pump provides the energy supply, supplemented by green roofs and modern ventilation technology with heat recovery.

Daniela Häußler was most recently responsible for Project Management in accordance with German engineering standards. The focus was on controlling costs, deadlines and quality as well as the close coordination of all project participants, especially against the background of monument protection requirements and construction price increases.

An additional challenge was posed by a night-time fire that damaged parts of the new building after the bitumen welding work on the roof waterproofing and also caused soot and water damage, despite the fire watch being maintained. By providing appropriate advice and Project Controlling in this situation, it was possible to support quick decisions and thus limit the resulting delay to around five months.

Commissioning took place at the beginning of February 2026, with the official inauguration in March.
