New European headquarters for Citizen Machinery Europe
With the new “Scharnhausen West” commercial district, the city of Ostfildern is sending out a clear signal for sustainable location development and the establishment of innovative companies. On the site with direct access to the A8 and in the immediate vicinity of Stuttgart Airport, a forward-looking commercial area is currently being created that intelligently combines economic power and climate protection.
Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH is one of the first companies to invest here: By the end of 2026, a modern production site for around 100 employees will be built on a gross floor area of around 8,000 square meters. The building will be supplied with heat and room cooling centrally via an innovative district network. The energy concept is complemented by a green roof and photovoltaic systems on the roof and south façade – for a resource-saving energy supply from renewable sources.
THOST Projektmanagement GmbH is responsible for Project Controlling and Construction Management on behalf of Citizen, while the Vollack Group is acting as general planner and general contractor. The commercial quarter itself also boasts a well thought-out sustainability approach: electricity from photovoltaics, a cold local heating network based on geothermal energy and heat pumps as well as climate-friendly mobility options with Charging Infrastructure, car and bike sharing make “Scharnhausen West” a prime example of low-greenhouse gas commercial development.
With the construction of the new Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH building, the new commercial district in Ostfildern is visibly taking shape. For the THOST team, it is exciting to be involved in shaping this new beginning right from the start and to accompany the sustainable development of further projects in the district.
