Supporting instead of overburdening – this is how municipalities go green

Municipalities play a key role in the green transformation of society and the economy, as they can inspire local people for environmental protection and sustainability.

In order to fulfill their role model function for the energy transition, municipalities must set a good example and improve the energy efficiency of municipal buildings.

This can only be achieved with sufficient financial resources. There are numerous funding programs at EU and federal level to support this – they help local authorities on their way to greater energy efficiency. However, many potential applicants are put off by the complicated procedure.
