XXL network expansion in Cottbus

150 kilometers of power lines, an ambitious schedule and complex framework conditions – the grid expansion in Cottbus is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Lusatia and is an important building block for structural change in the region.

Elektroenergieversorgung Cottbus GmbH (EVC) is doubling the city’s grid capacity by 2026. This will benefit central facilities such as Deutsche Bahn’s new ICE maintenance facility, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the new institutes of the German Aerospace Center and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The future Medical University of Lusatia – Carl Thiem will also be reliably supplied with Energy.

Technologies such as trenchless construction methods for crossing under the River Spree, railroad lines and transport axes play just as important a role as the modernization of substations.
