The German Aerospace Center (DLR e.V.) is planning to build a future-proof campus in Bonn-Dransdorf, which will offer optimal working conditions for all 1,400 employees from 2027. The focus is on improving collaboration, creating a uniform quality of facilities and employee satisfaction. In addition to the office space, the campus with a total rental area of around 34,000 m² will have green roof areas, a canteen, generously designed outdoor areas and a conference center for up to 500 people.
To ensure that the new workspaces meet all user needs, the design of the future workspaces is based on ergonomic advice from the Fraunhofer IAO in collaboration with THOST. The definition of the strategic guidelines and the formulation of premises for the project have been completed. Workshops and online surveys to involve employees and a survey of target requirements have also already been carried out. In the next step, we will develop activity-based room and space concepts based on the previously identified user typologies. The property developer Ten Brinke is aiming for DGNB Gold certification for the buildings and the achievement of the KfW 40 energy standard. Planning for the new working environments is scheduled for completion in October 2025.
