The “Electricity for Germany” grid development plan envisages investments of over € 400 billion in energy infrastructure over the next 20 years. One of the projects is SuedLink. The project, a joint undertaking by TransnetBW and TenneT TSO, involves the construction of two underground high-voltage direct current lines (525 kV) with a total length of over 700 kilometers and is one of the largest infrastructure projects in energy transition. The aim is to efficiently integrate wind and solar energy into the electricity grid in order to ensure security of supply. To this end, electricity is to be transported from the windy regions of northern Germany to the south via a direct current underground cable connection.
TransnetBW initially commissioned THOST with project management services in the tendering process for the DC3 and DC4 converter stations in the period from 2019 to 2022. The tendering process was divided into the following phases: Tender preparation, negotiation planning, negotiation and evaluation as well as the ramp-up phase. All procedures led to the successful commissioning of general contractors. As the project progressed, we were deployed in various sub-projects with a wide range of services and are still a trusted partner for TransnetBW in the SuedLink project and many other major projects throughout Germany.
