The city’s local government offices and their 3,000 employees were previously spread across 16 locations in the city. As part of a “spatial administrative concentration”, these were combined in a three-stage new building project.
In the first construction phase, the new administration center with around 830 workstations, the public service center with a canteen for around 650 meals per day and a large archive area in the basement were built. The total construction area was approximately 24,000 m². In addition, separate rooms for civic use were included in the overall concept. The construction of a new six-group daycare center as an independent building next to the administrative building was also integrated into the project. In addition to a significant reduction in energy and management costs, the new “plus energy building” also creates considerable synergies through spatial and organizational optimization and the creation of modern, attractive workplaces.
The new administrative center was awarded the Balthasar Neumann Prize in 2018 and was the first winner of the German Sustainability Award 2018.
Our services included selected project management tasks, advising clients on sustainability, certifying the new building and participating in the “Energy efficiency in buildings and energy-optimized construction” funding measure.
