In the first construction phase, the building was extended and consequently classified as a high-rise building. Together with the measures in the second construction phase (conversions and modernizations), the lack of space in classrooms, specialist and administrative rooms was eliminated and the building’s floor space was expanded to a total of 7,190 m² (gross floor area approx. 17,700 m²).
The measures for the second construction phase were carried out in two construction phases while maintaining all functions during ongoing school operations. The second construction phase (northern section) was commissioned at the beginning of the 2019 / 2020 school year.
During the conversion of the now 7-storey building, the rooms were reorganized and adapted to the fire protection regulations for high-rise buildings. The energy-efficient renovation included a new façade and the complete renewal of all technical installations and systems, taking into account the high sustainability requirements of the city, which aims to fall below the Energy Saving Regulation 2009 by 30 %.
THOST took over the management of AHO project stages 3 to 5 in accordance with AHO action areas A to E.
