Stahl-Holding-Saar GmbH & Co. KGaA wants to gradually convert its existing production processes to an alternative route using scrap, DRI (direct reduced iron) and HBI (hot briquetted sponge iron) in electric arc furnaces (EAF) in order to clearly reduce its carbon footprint.2Over a period of four years, new facilities with electric arc furnaces (EAF) are to be built alongside the existing production line at one location, as well as an EAF and a direct reduction plant for the production of DRI at another location. The planned capacity of these plants will be around 3.5 million tons of crude steel from DRI and scrap.
Green hydrogen is to be used in part during commissioning. During this phase, a blast furnace will be shut down, which will contribute to a significant reduction inCO2 emissions. The necessary infrastructure will be built in parallel.
THOST updates, monitors and reports the deadlines in this innovative project and creates status reports, overviews of the overall schedule and analyses of critical paths.
