Project

Scheduling and controlling for extensive conversion measures at a steel producer in the Ruhr area

Project type

Conversion

Client

Steel Producer

Location

The Ruhr

One of the world’s largest steel producers operates five plants in the Ruhr region for the production of pig iron and crude steel as well as rolling mills and further processing facilities. As part of the investment measure, extensive construction projects are being carried out in the specialist disciplines of civil engineering, mechanical and plant engineering as well as media and electrical engineering all of which relate to the conversion of the existing casting-rolling plant into a continuous casting plant with a downstream hot strip mill. Due to the short downtime of the existing casting-rolling plant of six months, precise scheduling, monitoring and tracking of the intersecting areas is essential.

Our services in this project include scheduling and schedule controlling. Scheduling includes the creation of individual and overall schedules, the coordination of work packages, the implementation of an early warning system as well as area scheduling for logistics and collisions. Status recording, schedule updating, construction site inspections and target/actual comparisons are carried out in schedule controlling, supplemented by monthly management reports and the implementation of defined measures.
