DB InfraGO AG (formerly DB Netz AG) modernized large parts of the existing railroad of the Breisgau S-Bahn in Baden-Württemberg. By 2020, the facilities had been converted and expanded to make them barrier-free and electrified. This has enabled Deutsche Bahn to guarantee a permanent service in the Breisgau region that meets the constantly growing demand for local passenger transport, relieves congestion on the roads and protects the environment. The following sections have been modernized and put into operation: Höllentalbahn West and East, Müllheim-Neuenburg, Breisacher Bahn and Elztalbahn.
The upgrade affected around 120 kilometers of the rail network. Among other things, the railroad renewed level crossings, tunnels, platforms with barrier-free access, railroad overpasses, overhead line and track systems as well as the entire control and safety technology with electronic signal boxes. Planning approval procedures were carried out for these measures.
THOST was responsible for Project Controlling in the planning, approval, tendering, awarding and execution phases. In particular, we were responsible for Process Management (execution plans for all trades), the management of construction supervision processes, the corresponding Schedule Control and as-built plan feedback.
