Conversion and construction of Katharinenhospital Stuttgart

The Klinikum Stuttgart is building the new Katharinenhospital (KH Stuttgart) in order to network the medical departments more efficiently and meet future healthcare requirements. The new building combines various surgical and internal medicine specialties as well as specialist disciplines such as oral surgery and ophthalmology. The project comprises three lower floors and ten upper floors with a gross floor area of around 91,000 m², including 27 operating theaters, two of which are designed as hybrid operating theaters.

THOST Projektmanagement is responsible for Project Controlling in accordance with German engineering standards in all project phases of this BIM project. Our project management services include the demolition and new construction of the building complex, including the necessary interim measures, as well as the redesign of the outdoor and traffic facilities, such as the design of the inner courtyards, the development of the overarching green concept and the redesign of the forecourt.

THOST also provides support with Funding Management, in-depth plan review, quality controlling and technical commissioning. Other services include alternative cost assessments and involvement in the tendering process for the first construction phase. Particular challenges are the inner-city location, the maintenance of hospital operations and the complex construction logistics.
