The new Surgical University Hospital building completed the existing hospital complex and was directly connected to the adjacent clinic creating a modern surgical center, which also comprised the newly built Women’s and Dermatology Clinic.
Two intensive care wards, two intermediate care wards with around 100 beds, five normal care wards with around 180 beds and one elective care ward with around 20 beds were built. The heart of the surgery department is the operating area with 16 operating theaters, including two state-of-the-art hybrid operating theaters. The new building also includes an auditorium with around 200 seats, a laboratory area, a central sterile supply unit (CSSD) and a helicopter landing platform, which is directly connected to the previously built emergency department.
Project Controlling by THOST Projektmanagement was carried out in German engineering standards project stages 2 to 5 in action area D (according to German engineering standards 2009).
