BIM pilot project: Refurbishment of an elevated tank
Project
Introduction of the BIM method as part of the renovation of an elevated tank and support during implementation with targeted services for structuring, quality assurance and knowledge transfer
Project type
Renovation
Client
Northeast Wuerttemberg Water Supply Association (NOW)
Location
Bad Mergentheim
The Zweckverband Wasserversorgung Nordostwürttemberg (NOW) planned the renovation of an elevated tank and used the BIM method for the first time. The project was deliberately set up as a pilot project in order to test the planning processes using Building Information Modelling (BIM) and to transfer the knowledge gained to future infrastructure projects.
THOST Projektmanagement supported NOW in the successful introduction of this digital working method – from the definition of the client information requirements (AIA) to the creation of a BIM execution plan and a quality assurance report to the development of instructions for model checking. In addition, the selection of suitable software solutions was supported and internal employees were introduced to the new method in a practical manner. The project is one of the first BIM applications in the water supply sector in Germany.
