TenneT, one of the leading transmission system operators (TSOs) in Europe, is implementing the central grid expansion project SuedLink together with TransnetBW. SuedLink is an important building block for the sustainable expansion of electricity transmission and energy distribution. The planned underground cable connection will transport electricity from renewable Energy sources from northern Germany to southern Germany. SuedLink consists of two separate lines – from Brunsbüttel (Schleswig-Holstein) to Großgartach (Baden-Württemberg) and from Wilster (Schleswig-Holstein) to Grafenrheinfeld (Bavaria) – which run parallel over long distances. Both sub-projects are being planned and implemented at the same time.
